Monitor
manufacturers are preparing to meet the prevailing fashion of touch screens. Viewsonic
has launched its new TDT2220 monitor with a diagonal of 22 inches, which are 21.5
inches viewable. It comes equipped with a stand, but can also be mounted on the
wall. It's pretty thin, as it takes, not counting the base, 6.6 inches deep. Anyway,
in the rear of the housing space it still incorporates two speakers, one on
each side. Thus, the monitor can offer sound with only two speakers, thanks to
SRS Premium. These loudspeakers provide a power of 2 watts in total.
It has a TFT LCD panel with LED backlight which provides a Full HD
resolution (1,920 by 1,080 pixels). The brightness reaches 200 candelas per
square meter and the native contrast is 1000:1. The LEDs used are white and are
treated antiglare panel, is further protected by a scratch-resistant protective
layer to prevent scratch by rubbing fingers. The panel is pretty quick with a
response time of 5 milliseconds. The foot can be tilted between 5 and 20
degrees, to be ergonomic for the user. However, the viewing angle is 170
degrees to 160 degrees horizontally and vertically.
This
multimedia Viewsonic monitor meets all the needs of the applications that are
managed by a multitouch touchscreen interface. At the rear connections are
distributed. It has a VGA analog input, but also a DVI-D digital input for
greater flexibility, as it can pair with computers with graphics cards latest
batch as both more modest. One USB 2.0 port (the type B) supports HID devices (Human
Interface Devices). That means that you can connect USB peripherals such as a
mouse, a keyboard or a joystick.
On the front panel there are several buttons that give access to monitor
setup menu. Here the user can make various adjustments regarding contrast, brightness,
color and sharpness. You can also select the input source (VGA or DVI-D). Similarly,
you can manually adjust the position of the image (in the horizontal and
vertical) and set the horizontal size and aspect ratio.
It has a low
power eco mode that saves about 40 percent compared to other similarly sized
monitors. The manufacturer claims that the life of the LED backlight source exceeds
40,000 hours of use. It weighs nearly five kilos supported and dimensions (excluding
the base) are 511 by 310 and by 66 millimeters.
